Protect Dena from Speculation!

ANNOUNCEMENT!!! In May, we released THIS report analyzing

Altadena's vulnerability to disaster capitalism & speculation.

 

We have our first community option to purchase and hold

land (aka a land bank) for anyone in Altadena who needs

to sell! Recognizing some may not be able to stay to rebuild and

will need to sell their land, Greenline Housing Foundation - an

existing Pasadena-based nonprofit - is now  available to purchase

and hold land in stewardship of the community - offering an

alternative to selling to private investors, corporate landlords,

or those not already connected to our beloved Altadena.

REMEMBER! CA Governor Newsom issued an Executive Order on 1/14/25 barring opportunist & predatory investors from making unsolicited undervalue offers to buy land from those impacted by the firestorms. For more information go here. *This prohibition has been extended to remain in effect until July 1, 2025!

 

The Governor’s executive order:

  • Makes unsolicited undervalued offers to purchase property from property owners in specified zip codes of Los Angeles County unlawful for a period of three months from the date of this Order. 

  • Directs the Department of Real Estate, along with other state agencies, to provide notice to the public of their rights under the law, resources for more information, and contact information for law enforcement agencies, such as the Attorney General’s Office and District Attorney, with the power to enforce the prohibition.

California law makes it a misdemeanor to violate a Governor’s order during a state of emergency, which can be prosecuted by the Attorney General or local district attorneys. Violations can be reported to the Attorney General’s office at oag.ca.gov/report.

 

I'm also independently collecting information on any speculators approaching Dena residents to buy your land. See the form below and submit any information you feel comfortable sharing if you or anyone you know is being approached to sell their property.
